living without a god/ess or multiple god(esse)s is as simple as living without santa clause.

Godless souls
by Aleman inhello again!.
i never thought that so many are believers of a godless life.
i would like to know, because i just don't understand, how anyone can live life feeling god does not and can not exist?

The Positive Thread
by Superfine Apostate inpost something positive.. .
i'll make the start: after years of fading, my believing wife stopped attending the meetings also and i no longer have to be careful about what i'm talking about when hanging around with the rest of my jw friends.
for me this is quite an achievement and i'm happy with it.. .

God and Evolution
by BurnTheShips induring the second half of the nineteenth century, it became common to speak of a war between science and religion.
but over the course of the twentieth century, that hostility gradually subsided.
science should not try to become religion, nor should religion seek to take the place of science.

when debating with religionists, the biggest problem is semantics. take "faith". "having faith" as "trusting" can't be immoral per se, neither can not having faith/not trust. both can be faulted though.
if i bet my money on a horse, i do that because i have faith that it will win the race. i hope so, i put my trust into that horse. if it does not win, i'll lose my money and i put my faith/trust at the wrong place.
shifting the burden of proof around can be funny, but does not lead a discussion anywhere. neither do arguments ad populum et al.
i wonder if you ever read marx or nietsche to call their "seed" "poisoned". one could say the same thing about luther, calvin, jesus, muhammad or whoever you wish.
one thing christian and muslim religionists have in common with marxists and the like: they made books more important than humans - even though the writers most probably didn't even have the intention of setting any standard.
while atheists are no homogeneous group, they usually adhere more to logic when reasoning, while religionists of any coleur usually take refuge in a logic-free zone. -

Would You date a black man or black woman?
by Save My Soul inmy sister-in-law is recently divorced and went to a witness online dating site.
she mentioned that many of the witnesses specified that they wanted a white or latino only.
of course there is nothing wrong with this (personal preference), but i found it interesting.

i'd even date blue and green women, if attractive.
i know people who'd only date blondes though, i guess that's the same kind of thing. -

Lies on Line...I always thought JWD was a forum for Honesty
by restrangled inafter finding this forum and being raised in the jw religion, i found jwd a refreshing place for honest feelings, fears, life experiences etc.. the history of the jw's was exposed, and those who lived any experience under this regime has been told by many members.. to be lied to by any forum member is insulting.
i have over my past year and 1/2 come to love many posters.
i realize many more have much longer time put in here.. i have been honest and exposed more of my self than i care to think about, but always kept in mind that others were doing the same and it was best for anyone new.. to lie on this forum to all of these members is horrible and i am questioning why i am so honest here.

when i first came here, a few years ago, this was a forum for discussing topics regarding jehovah's witnesses. now it's a forum for honesty? damn... gotta go.

Do People Truly "Love" Each Other On This Forum?
by minimus ini read how certain ones will profess their "love" for another poster---a poster that they probably never met in "real life".
is it me or does this strike you as almost impossible??
?

Sorry?
by RichieRich inover the past few days... someone who i'm no longer associated with has been out on vendetta to discredit me.
it started with a mass mail to my myspace friends, which caused nothing more than a few eyebrows to be raised.
that was the reaction of people who know me in real life.

LOL. are people now training their "parental skills(TM)" on RR? amusing how people have nothing better to do than opening "cans of worms" (ooooooh) - no wait, actually it's sad.
confucius say: "get a life".
